bad ignitions in camrys

I just inherited a 2001 camry that has had igniton problems since the car was purchased in 2001. All of the sudden the key won''t turn in the ignition. I am now on key nymber 4 and have had other toyota folks tell me the ignition stops reading the key. It does not feel like that to me because I put the key in and can feel something is not right with the ignition. Ignitions do not eat keys this fast. Anyone have a similar problem with a 2001 Toyota? I contacted the dealer now that I am back in the state where it was purchased and asked them to fix it because I have incurred some big towing bills and been stranded several times. I love the car, just not the ignition.
