I checked the knock sensor on my 93 Camry and came up with a reading of 177 ohms. The book says it should be higher than 1M ohms. I used a regular digital volt ohm meter. Was the meter sensitive enough? Is there a special meter to diagnos a bad knock sensor? Thanks......

Are you sure you had the proper range set on your DVM and understood how to read it? Where was the decimal point?

I used a Fluke 77 meter and put it on the auto range mode. In the auto range mode, it read 177 ohms. When I went to the "M" scale manually, it read "000"

Update: I replaced the sensor and the car is as good as new. I cannot believe how expensive the sensor was from Toyota ($171.00).
