I failed smog because of lack of communication for my car''s computer and my mechanic determined that everything was okay other than my ECM, so I bought a used one from a totalled Camry. My mechanic instructed my to find an ECM with the number 89666-33031. The one I bought on ebay which has the part number 89666-06120. The auction on ebay stated that it will work in one of four models, one of which appears to be mine: CAMRY 00, 4cyl, 5SFE engine w/o theft deterent, automatic trans, California emissions or whatever.
WHO is right?

Your cars computer will have a number printed on it, no guessing.
The other 06120 appears to be OK with your car. However these computers are very specfic to year/model/trans/emissions/etc.
Did the car have the CEL set. If so you will know when you plug in the new computer if it works by going for a test drive. You can do this yourself, computer location is right side of glove box.
