Ok Guys/Gals - I need some feedback on what a 2005 Toyta Camry SE (special edition) 4 cly. is supposed to be getting in Gas Mileage. The sticker on the Window said 24mpg city and 34mpg Highway, and of course the dealer sold me on that point alone. I was only getting 19 from a Ford Pickup. I am getting no where those numbers. On a typical day I do 80% in the country and 20% city and I am only avg. 24.5 mpg the whole time. Is this normal? for a 4 cylinder? - Toyota??? Thanks for all your help.

The numbers on the sticker are average amounts. A lighter foot will get you better mileage.

Ditto on the light foot- I have an '02 SE and I've pulled down 28-32 mpg on long trips (Portland, OR to Seattle, WA and Portland to LA) where my average speeds were anywhere from 70-90 mph, depending on traffic and terrain. I got that mileage by keeping my speed as constant as possible, avoiding full trottle passing, and driving less agressively.
If you're hammering on it you won't get the good gas mileage 4 cyl. Camrys are known for.

I too have traveled several times in my 01' LE from Jacksonville to Houston and back and have been averaging 32 mpg and have kept my speeds between 70-85 mph.
No lead foot here.

Yeah, I must say I've noticed a big difference with my 07 4cyl Camry, depending on how I drive. Of course, here in FL I also have the AC on nearly all the time, which might have an impact too... But I average 28-30 mpg
