Just bought, in last month a Camry '96 LE, and the seller is the owner of a local gas station. He told me he had completely detailed the car.. flushed out transmission.. said he did lube oil filter, etc.
Now only 4 or so weeks into ownership, the steering wheel has a grinding noise.. so I took it in. The gas station owner had said the vehicle had one owner and it was well cared for and maintained. The Carfax corroborated one owner.

The problem he said was low steering wheel fluid, so I asked how often I should have this checked and he said every month. I hardly use the car which has 97,000 miles on it (prior owner mileage), so why would the steering wheel fluid have to be checked every month?
Could this indicate a leak of some kind, or that something else is wrong that should be of concern.

It would seem to me that if this used car were detailed before its sale to me, that the steering fluid should have been checked. This fellow said that he had done a lube oil filter change, before I bought it, but suddenly today he asked "Who changed your oil?"
In fact he told me to bring it back to him when I hit 100,000 miles.

I am starting to wonder what's going on.
I had a lemon Saturn before this car that was L200,  2002, and I thought the Toyota would have no problems as I greatly respect Toyota.

Any comments are welcomed.
