1997 camry light on dash says o/d off on

1997 camry light on dash says o/d off on

Something came up on my dash today and it says O/D off on. Does anyone know what that means? My car isn't running funny but I was wondering what that meant and I can't find my book at the moment.

it is the overdrive button which is located on the shifter. if its on, it saves you on gas, and is more fuel efficient
