I am new to this forum and my wife has a 92 camry xle Its a 4cyl. auto. with less than 100,000 miles on it. I was a tech for honda and for dodge and I changed the trans fluid and filter last year ( 9000 miles ago.)

If the car has been sitting overnight and it is started and put into gear without a warm up it dosen't want to engage and while the shifter is on drive the engine will act as if in neutral for a moment.. If  it is warmed up it dosen't have this problem. Any suggestions?

I hope this thread is in the right area..
Thanks in advance..

were you guys the original owners? if so, when did this issue begin to happen? many cars, including some newer ones, take longer to engage into gears when the transmission is cold, especially in places where the weather is cold.

your transmission probably isnt slipping if you don't have any issues with it while driving. You could be safe and do a drain and fill of the transmission fluid again, and just refill with high mileage transmission fluid. that may help your vehicle.
