I have a 2014.5 Camry SE Sport with a satellite antenna.
The satellite antenna on an XLE is larger and looks more like a shark fin. My SE antenna is stubby and smaller than the XLE. Would like to replace the SE antenna with an XLE antenna. Dealer parts dept says XLE antenna is $90 and comes painted in your vehicle color. How much of a job is it to switch antennas? Is the factory antenna just glued to the metal surface in the center of the vehicle above the rear window?

Thanks Toyomoho. Is the wiring in the stock stubby antennae compatible with/able to be connected to, the XLE "shark fin" antennae - to get the satellite radio to work after the switch? I'm assuming that there is wiring under the roof that connects the exterior stubby antennae to the satellite radio, and that the stubby antennae and shark fin antennaes (visible piece above the roof) aren't self-contained units that communicate with the satellite radio wirelessly? In other words, I assume that the exterior antennae piece that you see (glued to the roof) isn't all there is to the antennae system.
Have you actually performed an antennae switch like this? Do I need to buy a complete new XLE antennae system at the dealer? Can I just find the exterior "shark fin" piece (from a Camry XLE) at a wrecking yard and glue it on?

I'm very interested in this info as well, especially if there is more to just attaching to roof with tape. Would have expected a wire somewhere.

fyi-- I have 2014.5 XLE and the piece on roof is a "stubby" type thing. So maybe not all XLE's come with the larger size...
