i have a 1995 v6 camry with 349,000 miles on it. its not pretty, but it has been pretty reliable for the past 50k that i've owned it. timing belt is not something i am comfortable doing myself and shops around me want anwhere from 600-900 dollars to replace the belt, water pump, seals ... i think i just answered my own question actually seeing the dollar amount written down i will just wait till it breaks as i live in the country and am rarely in traffic.
any opinions would be nice though i guess lol thanks

 

When was the belt last changed? The recommended replacement interval for today's "new improved" belts is 90K miles. If the belt was changed sometime after 1999, chances are the replacement belt design is improved.

The engine is non-interference, if the belt breaks the engine should not be damaged.

If your ready to write down the car now, find a shop that will just replace the belt and skip the other items. Look for one having a "coupon" or flat rate charge which might as low as $150.

Or DIY, a belt costs $30-45. If you screw up and the car now sits. This is no different then the belt breaking when driving but you will not need a tow.

The V6 ones are way easier IMO to change than the 4 cylinder versions.
