Hi, I have 1999 Toyota camry 2.2L 4 Cylinder with the engine light came on with P0770 code after replacing the transmission by the local shop 2 years ago til now. They replaced my transmission 3X already as well as the torque converter, all solenoids as well as the computer box but the check engine light still on. The engine light will come on after 20 miles upon resetting. Transmission shifts normal, speed and RPM. The mechanic surrendered already and don't know what to do next. I need smog on my car by 1st week of july this year. Need help...thanks.

 

The transmission was replaced 2 years ago and the CEL came on at that time?

Since then the transmission has been replaced 3 times, the torque converter once and the engine computer replaced once?

As a result none of the above has made any difference, the CEL still come on after resetting?

Did one shop do all the work?

Has anyone checked the wiring between the trans and computer?

Was the original trans replaced with the correct one (as well as the others)?

 

Yes, the CEL came on by the time the shop replaced the transmission. The shop suspected that the newly installed transmission is defective and the shop decided to replaced with another trans. The CEL still there after 3rd time. Torque converter replaced once and the computer. CEL still there even after resetting. According to them, they checked the wiring between the trans and computer but who knows. Only one shop did all the work for my car. The trans is the same as the old one.
