What did the dealer state was the problem? The motor or the motor control system?

The dealer is the most expensive shop for repairs. Get quotes from independents but suggest avoiding the chains type repair outlets.

Online auto parts sites such as Rockauto.com and others sell a new motor for $100+/-. Or try the internet search for a used part (Ebay) or auto salvage yards.

If you have some mechanical skills you can replace it yourself. Obtain service info such as a Haynes service manual ($20) and have a go.

This Camry is a 2003.They said it was the transmission, this is per my relatives mechanic. I pulled off the cowl and wipers and found the problem. There is a white plastic piece on a bar that feeds the driver side wiper that was attached to the motor gear that is broken. is that piece replaceable?

Toyota does not offer separate parts.

Aftermarket bushings are available for Camry but not sure for your year. Search the internet.

Dorman makes bushings and trans. APDTY makes trans.

Note: Aftermarket trans have had complaints of poor fit in the wiper shafts not lining up with the holes in the chassis.

Make try auto salvage years, the same trans is used 2002-2006 for all Camry models.

If resourceful might be able to make your own bushings as others have done using whatever they can find.

Can you share a pic to see how bad that plastic bushing is? Most are repairable with some simple tricks.
