Default Injector ticking and trans shutter....

been a long long time since Ive been here but my 93 Camry v6 is still running, and runnung well!

Couple of questions though....

I here a ticking in the head after I replaced the Head gaskets. Its only when it comes up to temp. Ive checked the valve lash over and over again but they are all in spec. Ive read that injectors make a similar noise but how do I diagnose it? Can I pull off injector wires one at a time to determine which is bad? It doesn't effect the car at all but it drives me crazy.

Also, Ive developed a shutter in the trans at low rpm and ONLY when the lockup engages. Is it possible to service the lockup externally? I cant find any info. I realize that the simple answer is my trans is worn out but I'm not sure if anyone else has had any luck fixing this problem. Otherwise the trans shifts smoothly and and has been service by me regularly in its old age. In other words, the fluid and filter are clean, clean, clean.

285,000 miles and counting......

1MZ-FE or 3VZ-FE?

Use a section of hose to narrow down the location of the tic. If an injector is suspected, compare sound between them. Disconnecting the plug wire will turn the injector off.

The lockup clutch is inside the torque converter.

3VZ-FE, tick is in the front left of the engine. If I unplug the injector should it make the ticking stop if, in fact, it is the injector?

Do you think replacing/cleaning the lockup would help and otherwise wasted trans?

When I had the heads of, the engine looked brand new. No sludging and the cross hatch could still be seen in the cylinders. If I did know better i would say the engine had 20K on it The car burns less than a quart in 2k miles.

Unplugging the injector will turn it off. No clicking unless some internal issue.

Have you checked oil pressure engine cold and hot?

With engine still under throttle, try lightly applying the brake during lockup and determine if the shutter stops or does not happen.
