I have a 1998 camry and the driver door lock will lock but will not unlock (from the inside).
Will unlock with the key from outside..
Not sure if its the acuator or the actual electronic lock or how to test it...
I have recently replaced the driver door handle not sure if related..
also installed an automatic starter (keyless entry) about 5 years ago, not sure if a relay from that would cause it..

does the other switch on passenger unlcok it? if so its probably just the button that's gone bad.

 

no it will not unlock from the passerger side

 

something's wrong with the wiring. the motor isnt moving in reverse.

 

If I have the key in the ignition and try to lock the door then it will unlock the all the locks including drivers side. I AM LOST

 

do you have a factory and/or an aftermarket security/remote entry system?

i'm thinking there may have been a short or something with the wires.

 

it was very strange that my car actually did the same thing for awhile. and then a few days after that my interior lights as well as the door locks didnt work unless i started the car and had the engine running. i took it upon myself to check all the fuses, and sure enough i found a burnt out fuse. i replaced about 2 of the fuses and my interior lights, as well as my locks that couldnt open the car when pushed, worked again.

i have to say, if you dont have a burnt fuse, you might have a short in the wiring and also try taking a look at the button itself to see if theres damage there, as nodrogkam had suggested.

Hi, having a problem with my door locks. Firstly they do not lock or unlock from the master control when pressed.Secondly they do not lock or unlock with the fob. Thirdly no response when i turn the key in the door lock. Recently i had problems with the passenger side window, it would not go down. I repaired that by adjusting the contacts in the switch, but I believe during the repair something occurred that i was not aware of. Took down both door covers to address the problem. So I do not know if something shorted.
