Default 01 Instrument Cluster/gear selector Bulbs

About half of my instrument cluster on my 2001 LE is burnt out. I see there are two screws on top of the cluster. Do i just remove those and then pull the plastic piece out? I don't want to break it. Are the bulbs back there just painted green or are the overlays themselves painted green? On my previous vehicle I had to sand the back of the overlay to get the green color off of it but I'm mainly curious because I'll be replacing with LED's. My dash gear indicator (D light only) is also burnt out.

Also, on my gear selector (shifter column) the light is out. how do i replace the bulb in there?

If anyone can tell me what I need to do that would be great. It looks horrible with burnt out lights
thanks!
