Emissions Leak
#2
Any trouble codes?
There should be a diagram on the bottom of the hood of the emissions system. Understand the hose routing. Remove a vacuum hose and hook up the machine. Remove a hose or the gas cap at the end of routing to see when smoke has reached the end.
The vent to the charcoal canister can be open when the engine is off and cause a leak to outside air.
A smoke test is not absolute as in if there is a leak there will be smoke as evidence.
Check the purge valve for leaking when closed by removing it and blowing air through.
The gas tank has vent hoses and a relief vent on top of the tank.
Inspect all hoses, fittings, etc.
