89 camry timing belt issues
I've got an 89 Camry, 3S-FE, that I put a timing belt on for a friend, it had stripped the teeth off from around the crank pulley... I put the new belt on and it still won't run, cranks over, every now and again it'll fire with just enough oomph to move the crank a few degrees, but never a good solid fire. I've checked the belt 5 or 6 times and it is dead on, I line up the notch in the crank pulley with the 0 on the timing cover, and the hole in the cam sprocket lines up with the half-hole that's in the cam case. The reluctor on the distributor does not line up with the pickup coil with the crank set at 10 degrees, and I've noticed that there is a notch in the cam case in addition to the mark that I used, am I using the wrong mark? The service manual I checked at work (I work @ a Toyota dealer) showed a "punch mark" which is what I am assuming that I used..
I've done plenty of timing belts on Subarus but I've never done a 3S-FE before (I helped a friend with a 2S-E in high school) and I'm gettin pissed that it doesn't run lol... any help would be greatly appreciated!

RE: 89 camry timing belt issues
I figured it out right after I posted this... The service manual isn't clear what mark on the cam housing is the timing mark, there is a dot, like a halfway drilled hole, and a notch... the timing mark is the NOTCH not the dot.. Put it on the notch and it fired right up :-)
