'97 Camry Check Engine Codes
So my neighbor ran diagnostics on my car because of the check engine light.
The following three codes came up:
P1130
P1135
P1135
Does anybody have an idea of what these codes refer to?
Thanks

The P1130 is A/F sensor circuit range/performance malfunction.
The A/F stands for air fuel sensor, a sensor that sticks into the exhaust pipe to measure the gases. It generates an electrical signal corresponding to the engines air fuel ratio. The info is sent to the engine computer which adjusts it as required.
It is a general code stating one if the engine A/F sensor has a problem (the engine has more then one).
The P1135 is more specific to what sensor is bad and why. In this case the code points to the heater circuit for Bank 1, Sensor 1.
For a 4 cylinder it is the first sensor on the exhaust system starting out from the head. You should be able to see the sensor when looking at the exhaust system.
The heater circuit works like a soldering iron in that when DC power is applied it gets hot in this case heating up the sensor. The sensor operates better when hot.
You can change the sensor yourself. Suggest reading up on the internet about how to change the sensor.
Note: The A/F sensor is sometimes referred to as an 02 sensor. The parts may look the same but the A/F sensor is different in operation, don't substitute one for the other.
If buying a sensor suggest getting a Toyota part or find one made by Denso. Not all brands work equally well in Toyota's. Also make sure the sensor is for a California emissions car which both codes imply by their number.
