Default Which parts should I check when "burning oil" found?

07 Camry, 4CL, 40k totally.
Since my last oil change (4 qt Synthetic Mobil1), it is about 4 months and 2800 miles. Right now only 2.5 qt engine oil left. I didn't find any leak outside. So which parts should I take a look inside for a possible leak? Thanks.

this problem seems to be common to the 07 Camry my friend is experiencing the same issue with this model moreover the dealers claims that 1/2 a quart of oil per 1100 miles or so is normal although they do not have any specifications on this to show

hope this helps

Toyota released a service bulletin on this model of engine oil consumption concerns. T-SB-0094-11

It states 1 quart per 1200 miles is considered acceptable oil consumption.

If burning more then this AND the car is still under warranty the bulletin states to rebuild the engine under warranty.

How Toyota came up with 1 quart per 1.2K miles is speculation. Guessing the bean counters ran a few numbers and found this amount was high enough to keep the majority of car owners from qualifying for engine repairs before the warranty expired.

Cool oil consumption

I don't want to sound like a mobil 1 hater but Toyota does not endorse mobil 1 oil, they endorse Valvoline. Most likely cause is bad valve stem seals due to poor manufacturing. You aren't in warranty unless you have an extended one and that is what i would check first. Use valvoline from now on it has better wear performance anyway.
