Default bad water pump or much worse?

Hello all! This is my first post here because I've never had problems with my camry until now.

It's a 96 with 190K on it, was running great until this afternoon. I was sitting in line at the ATM and noticed it was overheating. I took a look underneath and sure enough I was pouring out radiator fluid. The source of the leak appeared to be around the water pump although it's hard to say what part. I've taken a picture and added in a crude arrow.

It wasn't leaking directly out of the coolant bypass hose, moreso behind it or to the side. What concerns me is the color of the coolant. It was clay colored which leads me to believe there's oil getting in there somewhere as well. I've only had this one for about 2 months now so I'm not 100% on the service history.

So a couple questions...

1) Is it reasonable to assume the waterpump is FUBAR?
2) Are head gasket problems likely on camry's? My previous car was a legend and they were notorious for having HG problems on the #6 cylinder

Thanks for any help guys!

Default RE: bad water pump or much worse?

Is this a 4-cylinder engine? The water pump is bolted to a housing that is bolted to the engine. The pipe bolts up to the housing. There is a gasket between the pipe(s) flange and housing.

If leaking at the point of the arrow in photo then perhaps it is just the gasket. Did you try to tighten the two nuts shown in photo. Normally to access the water pump and housing you need to remove the timing belt cover and belt. Might be able just remove the pipe (bolted to engine block) and install new gaskets.
