RPM's Go up and Speed goes down?
I've got a 1989 Camry, it's got about 154,300 miles on it. Within the last few weeks I've noticed something trange. While I'm driving, all of a sudden the RPM's would start going up and the car would start to slowly loose speed. This happens at any givin' time after the car is actually warmed up. I'm ondering if this might sound like the transmission is just in the early stagees of slipping?
I sure hope not! I've already put enough money into it as it is.
Thanks for any help.

transmission does sound like it's slipping. find out which gear your in when this happens. accelerate slightly hard and see if you can hear or feel anything. If the engine rev's normally in neutral, then it's probably transmission issues.
You don't have that many miles, but with that much age, it's very likely the transmission is giving out. How's the fluid? Got a burnt smell to it with a brown/black color?

RE: RPM's Go up and Speed goes down?
I had the same problem with my 91 camry 4cyl at 160K.
When I flushedand refilled the transmission oil, the problem went away for a while.
It shortly started to happen again.
However, when I turn off the Over Drive, the problem goes away, too.
Does anyone know what the cause of the problem and how to fix it?
