2007 Camry Sportivo - Rattling noise inside roof liner
Hello there!
I live in Adelaide, Australia. I bought a 2007 Camry Sportivo (72000 km) from a private seller couple of days ago. The car was an ex rental one but in good shape. Had a pre purchase inspection - reports shows a good condition car so bought it. after purchase, in my first driving, I noticed a rattling noise coming from the driver's side inside roof liner when the road is not so smooth. It is really annoying. I took it to a local big toyota dealer (CMI toyota) for major serviceing and asked them to look at it besides major servicing and inspection. The report is satisfactory - everything looks good but the rattle. They said it is going to cost me A$1500 to open the roof liner to investigate and put a new liner.
It is very hard to live with the noise as aussie road is not so smooth and I hear rattle all the time over the shoulder. Any suggestion/advise/DIY much appreciated.

Thanks Mate,
The car doesn't have sunroof so it (the reply post) is not relevant to my car; I took my car to a local mechanic and he thinks he can open it and can have a look @$150 but he has never done such work. I am not comfortable to use my car as a guinea pig. However when I pressing the area something happened and sounds disappeared for the time being! it may comeback again.
Cheers

Thanks you reply.
I got my rattle problem fixed. I went to Plaza Crash Repairs in Holden Hill, Adelaide 5088. The guy (Eric Giro) of Plaza Crash was very honest and knows his stuff; He slightly opened the roof liner near to the rear side air bag and found a loose spring sort of thing and put a piece of cardboard between the spring and roof and it all gone! Eric spent about 45 mins and charged nothing! That's a great favour ( CMI Toyota Quoted $1500 for this)
I am very impressed with Eric and his family owned business with very clean nice yard. I highly recommend to have a look at Plaza Crash Repair (Plaza Crash Repairs and Towing Service | Holden Hill | Adelaide) and talk to Eric for any crash related stuff/advice/quote.
Cheers.

I had the same problem on my 2009 and apparently there is a service bulletin on it. Fortunately I just bought this car as a "Certified" Toyota and Toyota took care of it however they made it clear to me that sheet metal was not warrantied and they were making the repair as a 1 time favor. Right.
