2008 Camry 3.5 V6 Problemsssssss....
hi guys,
i am an owner of a 2008 Camry 3.5 V6. i want to share with you the problems i've been having with my car. i don't know if im lucky to get a lemon car or is it a usual problem.
1. rattling on my dashboard. my car has been in and out of the dealer because of the rattling noise on the dashboard. it is so annoying that every time the road is rough, you hear rattling and squeaking noise.
2. knocking/rattling sound for abut 1-2 seconds when i start the engine after it has been sitting for at least 3hours. it's like the engine fill fall apart. if you turn off the engine then start it again right away, the sound wont come out anymore.
3. transmission shifts weird. when it shifts from 2nd to 3rd, you feel that the rev goes up about 200-300rpm then goes back to normal. it is as if the transmission is slipping. i also experience it from 3rd to 4th gear. i read in some site that it is called "shift flare".
4. brake caliper is rattling. i notice that when i hit a bump on the road, i hear a metal part under my car. at first i thought it was my suspension then dealer found out that it was my brake caliper.
until now, non of the problem has been solved. i am so frustrated with the car because it has been a total of 4 months already that my car goes in and out of the dealer. by the way, my car has only 35,000kms.

The cold engine start noise is typical of this engine model. The dash rattle was covered by a service bulletin, the trans has had a few shift issues. Leaking struts are now typical, there is a service bulletin on this.
The dealer should know about this complaints and have any possible fixes that have come out from Toyota Corp. Not sure of the brake rattle.
Suspension rattle could be the upper strut mount or sway bar bushings.
Suggest visiting the Toyotanation website and reviewing past posts for your generation of Camry on these specific problems. This will give you an idea of who else is having the same problem and their fix.
If the car is still under warranty, keep on the dealer. Once out of warranty they most likely will not work unless paid.
Try another dealer, they are not all the same for service. Some are much better then others for customer support.
