Code P0300 head scratcher!

Code P0300 head scratcher!
Camry 2001 4cl 90,000mi
My wife drives the car, it is a great car, but this thorn will not go away. This appears to be an intermittent problem:
Occurs only with "cold"** start up. Approx once a month(+ -) (Began 6 mo ago)
Usually it is only a rough start, then runs fine. (no code)
Twice it lasted long enough to hold a code(P0300)*
Twice it failed to run(let it sit for several min, then started and ran)
* = FIRST VISIT =Took to Mech -Plugs changed. SECOND VISIT =Took to another Mech. -They said they could not repair because it started and ran perfectly, and a #300 code was not enough information(specific cylinder misfire).
** =Car sits for 8 , 10 Hrs.
WHAT CAN I LOOK FOR THAT MAY HELP SOLVE THIS THORN IN THE SIDE?.

I don't see many reply's on any of the other questions either, so I guess this is not really a Tech Forum.
