Default differential fluid for 06 camry?

I looked and could not find what differential fluid to use for my 06 camry, I read though that it would be ATF fluid is that correct or is there something else, I was thinking of Mobil 1 differential fluid cause I had used it on my old Dodge Dakota 2000.Hoping for some replys. Thank you.

The trans fluid might be Toyota ATF T-IV. The info may be stamped on the dipstick and should be in the owners manual. The trans doesn't have a separate diff.

Mobil ATF 3309 is the same fluid. Some owners have successfully used other products. Need to read the container label to determine if it meets the Toyota fluid or 3309 spec.

Unlike engine oils, use of other trans fluids then recommended may cause trans problems.

Doesn't have a separate differential fluid chamber. The trans and diff share the same fluid.

Toyomoho, I read that they have different drain and fill plugs, and that the trans takes like max life and the differential takes like dexron I, II or III, something like that, if I am wrong please correct me , i am trying to get these fluids change as soon as I can . but I want to know all the info I can get before I start. Thank you.

The car is a 2006? Check on the drivers side door for a sticker listing the trans type. Something like U250E, U150E, etc.

Dexron II and III was used on older cars. On older cars having the 4 cylinder trans the diff and trans did have separate fill plugs.

As Toyota trans design progressed it did away with the separate fill plugs and with Dexron III. Going to Toyota T-IV then to Toyota WS for World Standard. WS is synthetic fluid.

You need to use the correct type of fluid for your trans model. Check owners manual for fluid type. There are non-Toyota brands that state they are equivalent to Toyota branded products. The 3309 spec fluid is the same as T-IV.

Your 2006 can use Valvoline Maxlife ATF. It covers Type-IV and WS applications. Autozone sells the gallon jugs for about $19.99, Walmart may be a bit cheaper I hear (mine does not carry it).
