Default Motor Mount Repair

Car: 95 Toyota Camry LE 2.2L v4

I was hearing a fairly loud Click sound when I put my car into reverse, when I was in a steep incline/decline and put it into reverse, sometimes when I put it into drive. Also I hear soft click when I stop for about a minute then accelerate.

I took it to a mechanic, he said motor mounts (front hydraulic and rear auto) are broken. It was obvious that they were, when he pushed the car back and forth and when he shifted it with the hood on, the engine area moved. I'm not sure if this is exactly the clicking sound, but it makes sense

Estimate:

Front hydraulic: 255
Rear auto: 284
Labor 233
Tax
Total ~$1000

I have a feeling that $1000 is way too much. I found these parts on eBay for about $100. What should I do? Should I ask if I can bring my own part in? I know mechanics hate that. I called another area, they said usually it is around $600.

Any advice is much appreciated.

Default RE: Motor Mount Repair

I doubt all of them are bad. But your shop is probably calculating labor costs based on the book of doing them one at a time. If you do several of them, it's a lot less labor intensive. You only have to install the engine support sling once. Your shop is probably quoting on OEM parts. Beck Arnley parts are usually made by the same manufacturer that made them for Toyota. If your shop won't budge on the price or on using OEM, look for another shop.

Toyota OEM prices are
Front $183.51 Rear $205.29

Book labor is:
Front 1hr, Rear left 1 hr, Rear right 2 hrs.
