Typically white lithium grease is used on hinges (which is where the squeeking is coming from). I don't thinkit really smells at all and it lasts a long time. You should probabley clean the silicon off first to make sure the lithium really gets into the hinge

Do you know exactly where the squeaking is coming from? Specifically, could it be coming from the black weatherstripping (e.g. a part of the door frame rubs against a part of the weatherstripping)?

On my car, a '98 Camry, both the front driver and front passenger doors squeak just immediately before closingand immediatelyupon opening...they do not squeak at any other point in the range of motion of the door. I isolated it toa 1/2" portion of thedoor frame rubbing directly against part of the weatherstripping.

Solution: apply a silicone-based rubber/vinyl/plastic conditioner to the weatherstripping. Ineed to re-treat this area about three times per year to silence the squeak sincethe conditionereither gets absorbed by the rubber or just runs/wears off over the course of several months.

To follow-up on my previous post, this isthe product that I happen to be using this year.

http://www.blackmagicshine.com/produ...ine-protectant

I have also had good results from Meguiar's products as well.

I have no interest, financial or otherwise, in promoting either of these two companies' products.
