Default trunk leak

I have a leak in the trunk of my 97 camry (driver side). I am trying to figure out what is causing this leak and how to fix it. The water is sitting just above the wheel well on the rear drivers side.

any suggestions

I know this is only a temporary, quick-fix to your problem (and of course you certainly don't want to drive while doing this!) but I've had the SAME problem with my 1998 Saab 900. What I've noticed to be highly effective is laying down a 9' x 12' sheet of clear plastic dropcloth (available at any paint supply store) along the opening and base of the trunk, then close it down, securing any loose flaps by stuffing as much of the excess plastic under the rear wheels and moving back about an inch or two so to ensure that the weight of the tires and rear of the vehicle will hold it down to prevent flapping around in any wind.

This essentially creates a water-tight seal that prevents any rain water from leaking it, and let me tell you: Even after the heaviest downpours and winds, that part of the car remained perfectly BONE DRY!!

Works like a CHARM every time....GOOD LUCK!

There is supposed to be an air vent on the drivers side, it can leak. It's located further up the side of the trunk.

My '93 leaks there too and I was told of this vent too but never really understood where it was. I was told it was near the relay circut that tells you when you have a tail light out. can you be more descriptive, Toyomoho as to where it is? do you have to take the plastic inside cover off?
I just pulled the plug in the spare tire well so it would not collect water anymore and forgot about it.

Have never seen the vent other then in a service manual.

It appears to be at the lower rear quarter (corner) area of the drivers side of the trunk. This would be below the drivers side brake/tail/side marker light area.

Looks like right behind the part of the bumper cover that raps around the side of the body (not at the back of car). Would be hidden by this area of the bumper cover. Might be able to look up from under the car to see the vent or pull the paneling in this area.

When you find the thing and the problem post back, mine is also leaking.
