Default TSB 00106

Hi all. New here.

I have an '05 Camry that just started exhibiting the "noise" or thump in the steering wheel when turning. Can someone please post or send me the details on TSB 00106? I'm thinking this is what the problem is, but I'm not 100% sure.

Unfortunately, I ran the warranty out a while back. I drive about 100 miles a day so the 3/36K warranty was out in just over a year.

Thanks!

- Al

The problem is the steering intermediate shaft. There is an updated part for this concern. Your dealer should even have it in stock. And it is only a 3/36 warranty.

Use a section of rubber tubing as a stethoscope. Turn the steering wheel and listen for the noise at the two U-joints on the steering shaft. You should be able to see the shaft by looking down in the area below the master brake cylinder.

The part of the shaft that binds is actually the u-joint under the dash connecting the intermediatte shaft to the steering column. Its a VERY common problem.
