Default Wife filled tank with Diesel, easiest way to drain the tank???

My wife was out and stopped to fill up the car (2007 camry 4 cyl) and mistakenly filled it up with diesel. I have tried to go through the filler neck and siphon out the diesel, but I can't seem to get far enough into the tank to get more than maybe a half gallon out. Anyone have any suggestions??

The best route is to drop the fuel tank then drain and flush it.

If you have a small fuel pump or maybe a bulb type hand pump you can access the fuel tank from above. Remove the lower rear seat cushion to expose an oval access plate. Removing the plate will reveal the upper cover for the fuel pump and fuel quality sender. Both items are connected to the upper cover thus removing the cover will allow you to remove both items. Remove as much fuel as possible.

Once done suggest you "break" the fuel line at the engine (there should be a quick disconnect fitting), then jump the fuel pump power (12V) to run any fuel out of the line.

Once done suggest put everything back together then remove the spark plugs. Crank the engine over to purge any diesel out of the fuel rail and injector and allow it be expelled out the spark plug holes. Diesel is not going to burn, you don't want it being injected into the cylinders and have a possible hydraulic lock up.

This type of mis-fueling is not uncommon. If you decide, a shop should be able to the job for $300 or less. Much cheaper then the dealer would want who may want thousands!

Default Cheap and Fast way to Drain Gas Tank?

Cheap and Fast way to Drain Gas Tank?
What do you think?

1) get Helper

2) Jack stands Under both sides
near front door.

3)Remove Drivers side Tire

4) 6 - 5 gal buckets with Lids

5) 1 - 3/4" or larger Hose @ 10'-12' long
(3/4' Garden hose - regular size garden hose Wont work)

6) run Hose thru wheel well to fuel rail.

7) make sure Hose runs downhill
from fuel rail to 5 gal bucket.

8)Disconnect fuel hose from fuel rail.

9) stick fuel hose into Hose.

10)make sure Hose runs downhill
from fuel rail to 5 gal bucket.

11) Tell helper to Turn Off Radio.
have helper turn key to Run position.

12) Look to make Sure
gas is Not leaking out of hose,
esp near fuel rail.

13) fill 5 gal bucket to only 1/2 full.
Install Lid on bucket.

14) when tank is empty turn off key

15) add 5 gal Fresh Gas.

16) turn key to ON position Continue to Drain.

17) I have Not done this.
These are Ideas to consider.

There may be a Better way.
