Question Hi All.

I'm a newbie to the forum. I own an earlier "Wide Body" Camry. I have a missing remote problem. Without the remote the car is useless. I've been trying to locate the remote receiver module to work out whether it is genuine or an after market system. I believe it is genuine. Can any one tell me where it should be located?........Phil

system should be factory
which year wide body
depends on location of remote receiver module

remote receiver is in behind the dash

if the receiver has issues
can be re programmed through the diagnostic port
by locksmith with diagnostic scanner

how many buttons does your key remote have... inside the key is a battery
the fob or key
try to source a key from toyota / online or ebay or locksmith

Question Newbie with remote problem

The car was built here in Australia May '97. It was the last year the wide body was built here. The remote fob only has one button. I have the dash apart but don't know where I should be looking. So far have had no success in finding what I'm looking for.......Phil

only brief mention of fobs page 9 of the glove box owners manual

https://justgivemethedamnmanual.com/1997-toyota-camry/

from a 2009 forum topic read both page one and two
https://www.camryforums.com/forum/di...oor-lock-5149/

To reprogram the FOB requires disconnecting the power mirror plug and jumping some wires.

I myself dont know of any DIY method .. is there anything on youtube ?

I know an odb2 scanner can reset fobs
