whistling from window (2014.5 and 2012 Camry)
Hello Forum,
My 2014.5 (purchased summer 2017) came with a whistling sound in front passenger window, when the window is slightly open or much more open, and speed 20-30mph and above. Town roads or highway.
The door may have been replaced before my purchase. I suspected an accident to that area.
(The whole car is in great-excellent condition. Appearance, body, functioning)
And my daughter's 2012 (purchased 2015) strangely developed the same whistling in the passenger window just this week.
I had mine checked by seller, a used car dealer (50 miles from home). They opened and checked inside door. They thought a loose non-car object inside was cause and they removed it. I wasn't sure about that and was suspicious when they showed some object. But I drove off and in little while the whistled was there. So the problem has remained the same since as I haven't had time to go to distant dealer. I know an autobody place that could assist if there is a real cause and I pay a bit.
But before that, I want to run this by here. Anyone have this experience?
Thank you!

Thanks.
Yes, it occurs when window is either slightly or very open. Although, a passenger has said they hear a slight sound even if window closed. But then, I'm sitting in drivers seat and may not be hearing it since I'm on other side of car.

If noise when open, not sure what you can do.
If noise when closed use a section of rubber hose to narrow down the area. Then inspect the seal in that area. It could be damaged, have adhesive on it, etc. Could try lubing the window seals. The internet has lots of posts on this.

Hello Toyomoho,
This is amazing and here is some info. Someone mentioned the mirror, and try turning it inward and see what happens. I pushed it all the way in as they do for the car wash. The whistling was gone! on local road and the highway. I can't believe it!
So now we're talking about aerophysics (is that correct name for it?). I'll need to play around with it and figure out what needs buffering.
And I am going to share this with my toyota dealer.
I can't believe Toyota has let this go for all models. As I said, my daughter's 2012 camry recently developed same issue. And she did the mirror test with same results. And now recalls that in a parking lot recently that someone hit her mirror with their door.
I hope this is helpful to others.
Thanks so much!

Hi toyo,
I think of when blowing into an old fashioned coke bottle and the sound is a lower musical sound.
My sound is like the wind-- higher pitch.
(Haven't had chance to explore location of air causing this.)
Thanks again!
