Default LED License Plate Lights

Hey guys,

I got an LED light kit for my 2014.5 SE, I've changed the front and back dome lights, and the door lights, my biggest issue is that I can't seem to get the cap off of the light bulbs. Do I pull the housing back through the bottom of the trunk door, do I push it out of the trunk door? Do I leave it where it is and pop the cap off? I've tried to look online but everything I see is for different model Camrys.

Thank you

Question Close but no cigar....

So this bloke is using an Allen wrench 3/32 or so he says, to remove the lens. If he'd have kept his hands out of the way it might have been easier to understand IMHO.

I have a 2012 XLE with 56k on it, so things that are in place have been there for awhile.Plus they are probably brittle from age and prone to breakage.

I can see many other videos that remove the trunk liner and then take the whole ***'y out and remove the clear lens,

The lens is held in place by the pressure it exerts on the weatherstripping behind it. It has to be tight to be watertight.there are also some tiny pins that help locate the lens.

There is a variation that uses a plastic trim tool, to pry the lens out with a pop.

I can see why Fabio asked about it, that video didn't help me a lick

Sods law I guess.

Cheers, Shammo

The lenses come off with very little effort, forget the 3/32 Allen wrench nonsense. I simply used a old screwdriver that was ground down to a point, to take the lenses off. Once you see one come off you'll see how easy it is. You are basically putting the pointy end into one of the little tabs on the ends of the lens. Pry the lens horizontally and it will come off easily. the lens has a tight fit against the rubber weather stripping, it has to be water tight or else it will fill up with water and possibly short out. Here is the bugaboo.......putting the lens back in place whilst compressing the weather strip. I have nothing to offer in this area except you need a ton of patience . I wasn't sure my lenses were it tightly, so I used clear tape over the hole where the lenses reside, this way if one of the other come out, I won't lose them on the highway Taking them out is child's play. but it takes the patience of a saint to get them back in teh right way TAKE YOUR TIME!!
