My 2005 Camry has been without brake lights for months. I only found out after I was notified by a driver behind me. No warning light on the dash ever came on to alert a problem with brake lights. Bulbs all good, fuse good, brake switch good and 3 rd light works fine. What would I check next? Did I read about the turn signal switch possibly affecting the brake lights? Turn signals work fine. Did I read about a sensor located in the trunk? Could a faulty ABS sensor on the wheel affect brake lights from coming on? If the 3 rd light comes on could the problem be in the wires leading to the harness connector? All the other lights and signals work. Where would I start to check for bad ground? I have a multimeter with wire probs and a voltage test light I just do not know where to begin troubleshooting. Is there a device I can plug in to check for computer fault codes or do I need to find a mechanic? I am a beginner learning how to repair my vehicles. I need to rule out as many possible causes why my brake lights don't work. It would suck to hire a mechanic to find out this was an easy fix. I am having a hard time locating a wiring diagram in a PDF format for a 2005 Camry LE. All youtube videos on why no brake lights explain the obvious.. bulbs, fuse, switch, or why brake/ warning dash lights stay on. In my case, nothing on the instrument panel indicates any issues. I know there is something simple I am missing... I am stumped! Please help!!!

 

If all the brake lights don't work, check the brake light switch. If your model is using the same circuit for the turn signals and the brake lights, you need to check the turn signal switch. Check the circuit for a bad wire or connection.

 

The 3rd light works so it is not the switch. I have no idea if it is on the same circuit as the signal switch? I was hoping someone on this forum could tell me??? It's a 2005 Toyota Camry LE. As far as testing the circuit, can anyone walk me through each step? Where do I start? Would I use a multimeter or test light? I need as much detail as possible. Understanding the wiring schematics is overwhelming. I feel there is something simple causing why no brake lights. All I know for sure is there is no power going to the light sockets in the truck. All the other tail lights work except the hazards and stop.

Sorry... I think I may have been wrong about the hazards. I need to double-check to see if they are working or not. Only 2 of the stop/ brake lights are the problem. 3rd light is fine. I will go check to confirm and report back. Thanks!

 

youre going to have to definitely look at the switches and connections. most likely might need a replacement for them.

 

If the brake lights do not work, although the bulbs are in order, it's a matter of wiring. You need to contact specialists so that they fix the wiring for you. It happens. Although, if I were you, I would also ask them to see if the light bulbs work exactly. By the way, I recently bought LED taillights on the advice of a friend, and it turned out to be a great purchase. They cost much less than conventional headlights, although they also shine brightly and voluminously.
