This article applies to the Toyota Camry 4th, 5th, and 6th generation (1997-Present).

Over time, your engine experiences different levels of wear and tear. One of the main causes is carbon deposit buildup. To remedy this, you can use a product called Sea Foam Motor Treatment, which uses engine-safe chemicals to free up any interior deposits and expel them from your exhaust system. It is a simple product to use. Plus, it takes less than an hour for it to clean your Camry's engine and exit through the exhaust system. Not to mention, the whole procedure costs less than the price of a large pizza, if you do the work yourself.

Materials Needed

  • 12 oz can of Sea Foam Motor Treatment spray
  • 16 oz can of Sea Foam Motor Treatment
  • Pliers

Step 1 – Locate the brake booster vacuum line

  • While your engine is turned on, open the hood and locate the brake booster vacuum line. It is connected to a port on the brake booster, which is the component behind the master cylinder.
  • Once you find it, unplug the brake booster vacuum line.

Step 2 – Spray Sea Foam into the brake booster vacuum line

Make sure to keep the engine running during this procedure, as the removed vacuum line may want to stall out the engine.

  • Spray approximately 1/3 of the 12 oz Sea Foam into the vacuum line.
  • Then turn off the engine and wait approximately 15 minutes.
  • After the 15 minutes are up, start the car and let it run. You should see white smoke coming out of the tail pipe, which is just the dirt exiting through the exhaust.

  • Then pour approximately 1/3 of the 16 oz Sea Foam can into the engine.

Step 4 – Pour Sea Foam into the gas tank

  • Put the engine oil filler cap back on, and pop open the gas cap.
  • Pour the rest of the 16 oz Sea Foam can into the gas tank, and turn the engine off for at least five minutes.
  • Turn the car back on, and let the rest of the Sea Foam make its way out of the exhaust system.
