Toyota Camry: Performance Tire Reviews
Looking for performance tires? Compare these four brands and decide which is best for your Camry.
This article applies to the Toyota Camry (1997-2011).
The tires that come with your car from the factory don't last long and aren't intended to. The main purpose of them is to provide a good all-around tire to help move that car off the lot. With so many different tires on the market today, it can be hard to choose which is the right one for you without just running back to the dealer and getting them replaced with the same factory tire again. This article will review four of the most popular tires that Camry owners are using today.

Continental ProContact TX
Price – $125
Size – 215/60r16
UTQG – 500 A A
Speed Rating – H
Best Suited For – All Season
Weight – 21 lbs.
Warranty – 6 Years/55,000 Miles
The ProContact TX's offer very good grip on the street to help improve your traction while still keeping that cushioned ride quality that should be expected with a car. In addition, the tires have an M+S rating, so they'll handle well in light snow or mud. The only real downside is that they are slightly louder than other brands, but that should be expected with the extra traction they give. Recommended for the owner who desires a tire with good grip that will not alter stock ride quality.
Goodyear Assurance Comforted Touring
Price – $118
Size – 215/60r16
UTQG – 640 A B
Speed Rating – V
Best Suited For – All Season
Weight – 22 lbs.
Warranty – 6 Years/80,000 Miles
If you're looking to buy one set of tires and not have to worry about replacing for a long time, these are the tires for you. People have reported getting over 100k miles on the same set before needing to replace them. The downside to them is that longer tread life usually means a hard tread compound, so you'll need to play with the air pressure on them some to dial in the ride quality to your liking. Other than that, these tires will handle your daily driving needs perfectly. Recommended for the busy owner who wishes to buy a set of tires and then forget about them.
Yokohama Avid Ascend
Price – $100
Size – 215/60r16
UTQG – 740 A A
Speed Rating – H, V
Best Suited For – All Season
Weight – 24 lbs.
Warranty – 5 Years/65,000 Miles
The biggest difference between the Yokohama Avid Ascend's and the other tires on this list is that they carry the BluEarth eco-friendly stamp. This means they use more biodegradable and recyclable materials in the making of these tires. Otherwise, these tires will handle and perform very similarly to the others on the list. The only downside to these tires is that they don't handle as well in light snow and are a bit heavier. Recommended for the owner who does not drive in the snow and loves mother earth.
Toyo Versado Noir
Price – $93
Size – 215/60r16
UTQG – 620 A A
Speed Rating – H
Best Suited For – All Season
Weight – 23 lbs.
Warranty – 75,000 Miles
The Versado Noir series received great reviews from everyone who's used them. Between price and performance, these are the best value you can get. These tires ride very smooth and quiet and yet still maintain good traction. While you won't get as good of traction as the Continental's, for the normal daily driver you won't be disappointed. In addition, Toyo generally has some of the easiest to deal with warranties out there, so if you ever have a problem, getting a replacement tire should be easy. Recommended for the owner who desires great handling and a superb warranty to boot.
