i was asking him about 512 because of the low price tag.

i've been running the 912's 225 width since they first came out. they're alright.

i actually run 40psi front 35 psi rear. 38 should be good for you gsl since youve got a 4cyl in front.
They're an OK tire, good for the price and are not directional, which is great to even out wear.

the 912's are basically wider and more stable and non-directional when compared with the 512s. most people with the 512's noticed excess outer rib/sidewall wear due to the narrower footprint design which would fold over more during a turn, decreasing stability.

That would make sense with some of the negative feedback on the Falkens. Some reviews I've come across mentioned about the drawbacks (of the 512s you mentioned). But they never actually said whether it was the 512 or 912. And I don't see those issues on the 912. Thanks for the info.

those complaints are part of the reason for falken designing the 912's t replace the 512's.
i actually like the 912 wear and rotation indicators...sure helps me see when exactly i need a rotation and also an allignment of my camber.
i also like how they dont really squeel when pushed to the limit, but i guess that requires the driver to be more aware of what their car is doing since there is little sound feedback.

So that's what those little divets are. Thanks had no idea. I have a bit of a heavy foot off the line, and these are the first tires I've owned that never squawked, even on wet pavement. It's far more responsive too. And like you said, it's wider, and I don't get that rolling feeling when taking sharp turns.

haha im glad you can afford the gas.
Im still getting 16-18mpg driving pure city when i keep my rpms under 2800...haha
I have to say tho...i love and appreciate the power of a v6 sometimes!
but yeah i guess wherever you bought your tires from didnt have literature on them.

My previous cars were V6s. This is my first iL4. I was surprised how much torque it had off the line, felt like a V6. With gas prices on the rise, I'm glad for 4cyl. With normal city driving, and my type of driving, I'm still averaging about 35kmpg (roughly 20mpg). Even with the upgrade from 14" to 16" wheels. It's about $1.22/L in Toronto, but projections estimate prices to go up to $1.40/L. May have to start driving less, and in invest in a bicycle if it comes to that. Damned gas companies. They do it because they know they can.
