Ill start off by saying I no little to nothing about cars. Im gettin an 02 Camry from my parents in a month and want to put a little (NOT ALOT) into it to try to get some more hp out of it. I heard that the performance chips COULD help but to get the most out off the chips other things would need to be done. I've been lookin alround for different  parts that would help and come up w/ the following: (Yes I no I have duplicate parts from different websites, savied a bunch of links have yet to really go over them or do any in depth reseach)

http://www.knfilters.com/news/news.aspx?ID=926

http://www.2kracing.com/product_info.php/cPath/9_89_1411/products_id/2412

http://www.erzperformance.com/product_p/secret260.htm

http://www.erzperformance.com/product_p/injenshortram-78.htm

http://www.erzperformance.com/product_p/wr53.htm

http://www.car-stuff.com/carparts/toyotacamry19982002spectres7187051.html

Im also wondering which of the above parts if not all are not hard to install for im beginning an Auto class at school next week and students can bring in there cars from to work on along with get help fromt he teacher. But I am not sure how knowledgeable the teacher is and dont want to end up f***ing something up.

Im looking for contructive critisizism and not someone yelling at me over the internet for not knowing much about cars. I will also be posting this in another section of the forums because I wasnt sure which to post in.

Thanks for any constructive help,
Sean

What engine is this?  If a 5SFE the engine is designed for fuel economy and suburban driving.  The cylinder head has poor air flow and this limits any performance gains.  Any real HP gains require spending a lot of money.

Many owners have installed the cold air intake though not sure you would notice a 6.5hp gain.  K&N makes decent products.  If you go this route be sure to reinstall the intake air temp sensor or the computer will not function right.

Would not recommend the ignition item listed unless the car has a problem.  The car should already be designed with a decent ground system.  You can also make your own system from copper wire.

Not sure on mufflers, a high flow CAT might help things a little.

It is possible to add a turbo with good results although this is not cheap.

Would think most of these parts were bolt on.  The muffler may require some welding.  If you have questions call the manufacturer before you buy, most have a technical support department to help customers.

those mod chips will work for the first 10-12 miles and it'll be corrected by the ecu. What it does is it just tricks your ait to making the air temp outside cooler so it'll run rich and advance timing. OBD2 computers are a whole lot smarter than that.

get an SRI and an exhaust- but don't expect any power gains.. its just for looks and sound. (maybe 5-6HP - if that) Toyota engines breathe fairly well; thats why the gains in exhaust/intake isn't noticable.

good luck.

I have a 05 Camry 2.4. I have a borla exhaust and a cold air intake. I do not think these changes help much other than sound. I would not put a chip in your car at all unless it is a chip made for the car, I do not know of any just made for Camry's.
