I''ve got a 1995 Camry wagon and am pulling out the right side drive axle. Dilligently following the manual I''ve seperated the shaft from the steering knuckle, removed the snap-ring and the center bearing lock bolt. The intermediate shaft won''t pull out. I''ve even rigged up a come-along and it still won''t budge. Does anyone have suggestions on how to get this drive axle out of the trans.? Thanks, dmend

The inner axle is NOT held in by any snap ring located on the splined shaft running into the diff. Thus the issue is typically the center bearing being frozen in the housing by rust. Try penetrating fluid, a little heat, some people remove the bearing support then work on it at the bench, others use a pry bar.

Send the children next door as it will take about 2 hours of swearing at Toyota engineering to get the rusted center bearing carrier to release the bearing. As toyomoho says use plenty of PB Blaster and a pry bar. Use a hammer to lightly bang the bearing support to work in the penetrating fluid. It should come out, as removing the bearing support is also a pain. Use fine emery cloth to clean and anti-seize on re-installation to make next time easier.
