If you are wearing your seatbelt, there should be no need to disconnect the alarm.

there is no turn off put on your seat belt or if you want to risk your life go to the junk yard and get the metal peice that connects the seat belt and put it in there so the car thinks you belt is on

I have an 08 XLE. When I place my briefcase on the passenger seat, the car thinks there is a passenger there. A short time after I roll down the road I have to listen to the passenger seatbelt alarm go off. It's very annoying. Is there a way to trick the car? I'm not sure if it's the weight on the seat or if it's the opening of the passenger door to put the briefcase on the seat that triggers the alarm.

Only the dealer has the tool do what you want but 99% (including myself) wont touch it because of accident liability.

Put your briefcase on the passenger floor, or in the back seat on the floor. It's safer there anyway.

Good tips, thanks.

Btw, I checked to see if placing my briefcase on the passenger seat from the driver's side without opening the passenger door would avoid the problem. However, that didn't work. It appears to be the weight on the seat that triggers the passenger seat belt alarm.

Yes, on most newer vehicles there is a sensor embedded within the cushion of the seat. Even a gallon of milk will set it off (my 05 gmc yukon is like that) I know that (in the yukon at least) the sensor also arms the passenger air bags. They'll only deploy in an accident where the computer "feels" weight in the passenger seat.

I knew someone who got thrown through the windshield on the highway because they werent belted in an accident. He broke his face (eye socket and forehead) 3 ribs and collapsed his lung, and I believe his arm was broken in 3 places. I'd suggest just using the seatbelt.
