just replaced the transmission in my 97 camry, at the same time i thought while the engine was out i'd install some seals, replace the timing belt, new water pump, pulled the oil pump checked it for clearnce, pulled the head for new head gasket, new intake/exhaust gasket...torqued everything down per specs, cleaned the timing sproket and crank sensors.  now car starts good when cold but when hot and in netreul car stalls intermintly, water temp gauge moves irradically but mostly steady...oh yea i broke the tempature sensor off when removing the motor and replaced it with one from 1994 (junkyard)  it looks the same went right in. car  has 170k ran excellent with slipping transmission.  when car is ideling and i rev it up to 3000 rpm engine will cut out and stall then hard to start.....no codes.......  thank you Roger
