Default Best way to run an Ipod without replacing the deck?

Hi guys,

I have tried a couple ways of doing this, but neither give me quality sound. First, I went with the fm transmitter, but I got a whole bunch of static. Now I'm using the tape deck adapter, but the sound quality is poor.

What I would really like to do is install and auxiliary cable into the deck, but I don't even know if this is possible. Anyone know anything about doing this?
