Camry Stereo Question??....

I have a 1993 Camry with the OEM Cassette deck. I still like listening to analog Cassettes (I know, very old school but I like the sound better than Ipods)...

When I insert a cassette, there is an internal Automatic "sensor" that detects "Metal" tapes. I wish it was a manual control.

It is turned on for a majority of my cassettes and it does take away from the sound quality.

I've taken out and apart the stereo before to clean and demagnetize the heads (very easy to do, by the way).

Is there a way to remove, modify or disable this internal automatic "Metal Tape" sensor so it doesn't work anymore?? I'm sick of the loss in sound quality!

thanks-
Brian

Not sure. No nothing about this unit.

Read the info at the link below. It appears there are notches in the back of the tape that tell the machine what type of tape is being used.

Perhaps you could modify (tape over) the notches used to indicate the tape is metal. Or modify the machine so that the probes are unable to move into the notches.

Hey Im not sure if youre interested or not, but I recently found an aftermarket doubledin radio that has am/fm/cd/cassette, sigitally tuned. Didnt look like a bad unit, Im just lookin for bluetooth streaming. Are you interested in the link?
