JBL86280-0W290 amp
I have a 2007 Camry with an apmlifier that went up in smoke.
After much research,I have concluded that this is a common problem with this JBL 86280-0W390 Ampl;ifier. NHTSA issued a "service bulliten" on this problem (100021538) in April of 2007. I do not have a copy of that bullien to determine its content. Toyota has a new replacement PN for this amp. It is JBL86280-0W391. Apparently; they recognized a problem, corrected it, and waited for the problems to surface after the waranrees expired. Now they want $1,100. to replace the amp in my 58,000 mile Camry SE:confused:. In searching several salvage yards (and ebay) I have located a minimual amount of the used 390 amps, but no 391's. My concern is that all of the JBL 86280-390 amps may be just another disaster waiting to happen. Has anyone replaced their JBL86280-0W390 amp, with one from a salvage yard, and experienced the same problem (up in smoke)? |
