Portable GPS thru Stereo?

Just wondering if it's possible to use a portable GPS (like a Tom Tom) and have the voice instructions play thru the stereo, lowering the volume of whatever was playing, kind of like the cell phone / bluetooth works? I'm thinking not, but figured it doesn't hurt to ask!
