Exclamation Want to add AUX cable now doors don't work

Really. I went on Amazon and purchased
Amazon Amazon
so I could add an AUX cable to my 2002 XLE Camry. It has the 6 CD changer and cassette. the Stereo model is A56820. I got it installed and it works but there is one problem. Now the remote FOB won't lock the doors. It will unlock the doors but will not lock the doors. When I unplug the connector from the back of the radio, the FOB lock works again.
  • All the doors are closed including the trunk
  • The FOB will unlock the doors
  • The button on the door will lock the doors.
  • When a door is open and the lock button on the FOB is hit, the car beeps (door ajar) but does not lock the doors.

With that last bullet, I know that the signal from the FOB is getting to the car. This is a plug and play device so no wires were cut when installing this.

Any ideas? I just want to add an AUX input to the car..

Beyond speakers, the radio has no connections to cars wiring accept to DC power.

Speculate the cable unit could be sending out or injecting a signal into the radio that interferes with the FOB.

Try replacing the FOB battery which may increase its signal strength.

If no change might read up on RF shielding of the cable unit or look for another cable.

Try wrapping aluminum foil/wrap around the plastic box. Put some insulating electrical tape around the cable plug not being used. Then wrap the plug with foil/wrap.

Post back with results.

I will need to try this. Good idea with the tin foil. Since the car is receiving the signal which I was able to verify by hitting the lock button on the FOB with the door open and then hearing the long beep, I'm not sure how it is blocking the lock. Mind you I am not an electrical type person so it has to be obvious for me to see a problem if its electrical. It is also puzzling that the unlock still works.

I won't have the car until later to give all this a try.

May not be blocking the lock mechanically but the signal to body ECU which controls the locks via the FOB signals. The radio has no real connection to the body ECU.

Try holding the FOB closer to the rear passengers side roof pillar area where the FOB receiver is.
