here is what I am looking for:

I have the 2002 Camry XLE with JBL single disc audio. I think that the front door speakers are crappy. Despite having JBL amp they (JBL door speakers) are not doing a good job esp at higer bass settings... the dash tweerters I am told are not really tweeterss.

So I want a pair of speakers for the doors that are better than the stock JBL's . Also currently siince my camry does not have a mid range, i am thinking a 3 way speakers will help. Some might have built in crossovers right?

So whats a good speaker for the doors? I know from several posts here that the impedence is 2 ohm.

I don't want to go about modding the door. The max I can go is if there is a ready to use adapter.

I am wondering this is a difficult question to find answer in this forum.

I can only tell you that i was incredibly dissapointed when i heard that toyota was going to use jbl I'm an electronic engineering student and i can tell you that those in the know refer to jbl as junk but loud.

 

He's right about the "Junk But Loud" speakers man. You should try an ipod integration kit. Audiovox has a crappy one,but I have one in my Jetta from DICE Elctronics. It even worked with my '99 Camry,and that thing can't get any worse. They also have new HD Radio kits for the '07 models. Check it out man.

 

I put in infinity 6x9 in the door and in the back and it sounds crisp and clean. I also put 2 12" MA Audio subs in the trunk with 800 watt MA amp and the sound is unbelievable

 

we paid for the JBL upgrade on our '04 Sienna (well actually it came with the DVD package we wanted).
i know a van is a terrible soundstage but i have to say it was a big disappointment in overall sound.

i'm buying a 02 Camry this weekend and will be selling my 98. my 98 is an XLE with the upgraded sound, tweeters in the door,etc but the sound at low volumes is almost unlistenable. everything rattles and vibrates. i'm used to it but the rare times my wife drives my car she asks how i am able to stand it!

 

Go get some 6.5 components OR an infinity 6x9- its originally a 6x9 and Infintys get really good highs in them and grab a subwoofer. My '02 has 2 pairs of 6x9 db and an infinity 3.5 up front then i have a memphis pushing a db sub. its clean- not gonna win any SPL or SQ competition but its very respectable.

 

well i have a 92 camry and i completely re-wired the whole audio system. i installed pioneer 4-way speakers all around. 6.5 in the doors and 6 x 9 in the rear. sounds crisp even without the subwoofer but i added it anyway. but anyway pioneer is a good way to go with speakers.

 

mmm ... I have a 1986 Caprice & all my speakers are JVC along with the Audio Combo JVC mp3 player ... sound is v.good & I hooked my rear 6x9 3way 240watts speakers to a sony 250watts amp.

The soud was amazing that there was no need for a sub. ... now am shifting the whole audio sys.to my 1997 GLi camry replacing the front to a JVC 16cm 2way 200watts speakers to work as mid range ...

if u dont wanna spend alot ... then try it or check what the dudes are advicing ya [8D]

did you keep the factory JBL amp for the six by nines in the door and the back? And the JBL Factory head unit did you keep that as well? Or did you upgrade them if so what did you upgrade too?
