Stereo fuse Problem?

1993 Camry LE..

I bought a new car stereo to replace the original original stereo in this car. The new stereo is an old school tape deck by Nakamichi.

when I installed it, the Nak cassette deck would not play cassettes properly and the lighting on the alumination was very dim. It seemed as though the stereo wasn't getting enough power through the original toyota stereo wiring harness connection. The Nak stereo fuses were in good shape, so I ran the direct negative (black) and positive (red) wires to the Battery. It worked great after that!!

My questions is... To avoid having to wire the stereo directly from the car battery, is it OK to change out the car's stereo accessory fuse to a higher ampage so as to use the original wiring from the stereo harness without causing damage to other electrical parts in the car?? I think the fuse in there now is 15A amps

Did you wire the replacement radio correctly? Toyota does not use standard wiring colors. The website below would have the wiring info.

Which fuse do you want to change, what is the exact label?

Typically unless the stereo has a large amp the current draw is small enough one can tap off a fuse such as the one for the cig lighter without problems.
