I'm looking for information on which years of Camry factory CD players are capable of playing MP3 CDs. I have a 2004 Camry and the CD player in the factory radio wasn't working. I swapped in another factory radio out of a 2002. Identical looking and both the cassette and CD player work.

If the 02 can't do MP3s and the 04 can, I might be able to use the CD deck out of the 02 in the 04 radio and make it work.

Anybody know?

 

Well, I guess nobody knows about the factory 02-04 radios, whether they can play MP3s or not. Seems like this forum is mostly dedicated to older, 80s-90s Camrys.

 

How about you just toss out the stock deck and replace it with a new after market deck? If you have an MP3 player almost every deckand every price should be able to play the player as well as the discs with MP3's on it. If you have an iPod, get an Alpine deck. You can fully control the iPod through the Alpine Head Unit. This is the best way to go. It's what I have for my car. My deck doesn't even have a CD player, I'm iPod only.
