Default The dreaded dash melt- detail help

Yes I have the dreaded dash melt on my 2007 Camry. Has anyone come up with some detail trick to get rid of the sticky stuff. I keep my Camry garaged so I don't have any cracking, just the gooey stuff here in Texas during the summer. PS- the warranty ran out in 2017 to replace the dash, and I just found out about this week! I will be inquiring under separate thread on what my recourse is to get a new dash. Toyota headquarters in Plano says there is nothing they can do for me.

I've been through the process. I live in Dallas, which is the headquarters for USA Toyota. I wrote the President and some PR lady called me. They couldn't help me. You are on your own. It will cost you over a $1000 to have Toyota replace. I haven't replaced mine as I keep my Camry in the garage most of the time.

I used some furniture polish then alcohol on the dash and it's better, but still sticky.

Check on the internet if Toyota had an extended warranty for the dash melt issue. Assume if an extended warranty it has expired on a 2007, but check.

I checked. No longer effective on a 2007.

The extended warranty expired in 2017. I contacted Toyota again to ask them why the first owner who took it to a dealer for all service calls and 3 recalls from 2008 to 2018 wasn't notified about the dash issue. I haven't heard back from them, but I'm not expecting them to do anything about it.

I just bought this car used and the dash has nasty pet hairs embedded in the dash- I do not know how to remove it as I use so many products it’s just sits there . I thought the stickiness was because of all the stuff I use to try to get rid of it. there’s any advice or products or anything I can use do to get rid of this pet hair ?

I haven't found anything that works yet either.

I asked the service guy how much to replace the dash and he said $1800.00.

On the recall notice it said that Toyota was allowing the dealer 2 hours of labor for the change out. I've watched a video of the change out and it's major surgery for sure.
