RE: engine cleaning
use the brake cleaner, its a green bottle. even though it said for brake kits, it also work for cleaning engine and things around it. spray it on top of the engine and around the area cuz your alternater is on the bottom so just try to keep the spray away from it

RE: engine cleaning
I've seen some engine cleaning kits at pepboys. I also had afriend told me to put a plastic bag over the alternator so it doesn't get anything in it at all. I have an oil leak so my engine has a bunch of gunk all up on it

RE: engine cleaning
The alt may not be the problem, the issue the electrical connectors for ign, dist, etc.

RE: engine cleaning
More then one owner has cleaned their engine only to find it does not start or runs rough.

RE: engine cleaning
So I should leave all that nasty gunk and oil on my engine?
|
RE: engine cleaning
No. The cleaner and wash water typically get into the wire connectors. Just had this happen on a Honda after being very careful, needed to pull the connectors and spray with WD-40 to start the engine.

RE: engine cleaning
Ok well idk what to do cause my engine was spilling oil and its all over my engine and when I've been driving for a wile my engine smokes cause its burning all that oil

RE: engine cleaning
Watch where you spray, use a light tough on garden hose when flushing, you should be fine.

RE: engine cleaning
I'm gona give it a shot later. All the oil and junk is on the bottom so its not near the electrical stuff
